Two Big Announcements

We had a very big weekend around our house, and I have so much exciting news to share!!  If I were standing in front of you I would be jumping up and down and clapping my hands together as I make the first announcement.

Rachel and Patrick are engaged!

{more jumping and clapping and squeals of delight}

Patrick proposed to Rachel Saturday evening in our living room.  She was fully surprised and delighted.  There was a private dinner, lots of decorations, and details galore.  Their family and close friends celebrated over cake and champagne later in the evening.  I can’t wait to share all of the details from the event, but today’s post is only to announce the exciting news!

Before the happy couple left yesterday to go back to Austin they did set a date and place.  Being fans of a short engagement, they have chosen to get married in early December.  And since they want to have a very intimate ceremony they have chosen our home as their wedding venue.  I can’t tell you how overjoyed we are at the thought.  A Hurley House wedding makes me so happy I could cry.  In fact, I already have.  Several times.

Are you thinking what I’m thinking?  There are going to be so many fun wedding-realted posts to share with you over the next three months…what a fun new topic!  I can’t wait to chronicle the process and share it with you here.  Let the celebrating begin!

My second announcement is far less important or emotional, but I thought I’d throw it in here at the end instead of waiting another day.  Remember Friday Pie-Day?  Well, I have a new series of posts that I am excited to begin this fall.  Truth be told I meant to start it several weeks ago, but The Not Nice showed up at our house and kicked everything back a few weeks.  But now I’m back and ready to go.  Of course, as you know, I love to name things, so here it is…

: : : Weeknight Wonders : : :

Decidedly.  Delicious.  Dinners.

What does this mean?  I’m glad you asked.

Weeknight Wonders are dinner recipes that are easy enough to prepare as a weeknight meal, but wonderful enough to be worth the effort.  These are the recipes I turn to time after time after time when I feed my family.  And now I want to share them with you.

But wait, there’s more I need to say.

Weeknight Wonders are not my version of 30-minute meals or five-ingredient cooking.  These are recipes for delicious homemade dinners.  Some of them can be thrown together quickly.  Some of them have simple ingredient lists.  But that’s not the point.  The point is to share with you some fabulously delicious, all-time winner dinners.  They are full of flavor, they are tested by time, and most of them can be prepared in advance.  These are the dinners that won’t make you sorry you spent time in the kitchen.

I need to be up front with you about one tiny detail so that you won’t be disappointed with this series.  I’m going to keep the Weeknight Wonders posts very simple.  Friday Pie Day taught me that it takes quite a bit of time and energy to do elaborate posts with step-by-step pictures of the cooking process.  I can’t sustain that pace during the school year, especially now that we will be planning a wedding {eeeeeeeee!!!!!}.  But I will provide you with the recipe, a picture of the finished product, and any helpful information you need to know before you dive in.

Engagement and Weeknight Wonders all in one post.  Life is full!
