Amazon Finds, Volume 1

May 1, 2023 · In: Favorites, Lovely Living

The great thing about Amazon is how many different products they offer. The challenging thing about Amazon is…how many different products they offer. The truth is, Amazon can be equal parts amazing and overwhelming, all at the same time. With so many item options in any given category, how are you supposed to know which ones are worth purchasing?

Today I am sharing a round-up of products I have purchased from Amazon that have met or exceeded my expectations. These are items I have used over time and loved. My hope is that these recommendations from a trusted source will help you make wise buying choices on Amazon.

PILLOW INSERTS.
I have three euro pillows on my bed, and I want these pillows to be full while still being soft. I have found the holy grail of pillow inserts. I have had these on my bed for over a year now, and they stand up beautifully, fully filling and supporting the linen euro sham, but also squish down when you lean on them. They have kept their shape, no lumping, no deflating, no shrinking. They also come in a variety of sizes, which means all your pillows can look amazing.

MILDLINERS.
Picture a highlighter, but less aggressive, and you’ve got mildliners. Mildliners are like a softer, cuter, prettier highlighter. I have a set at my desk, and I have found a million uses for them. They have a wide, angled tip on one end and a small, pointed tip on the other. No matter how you use them, they make every page pretty.

PLASTIC PARTY PLATES.
Everyone needs a go-to party plate, and these are my ones! Small, clear, scalloped, sturdy. They check all the boxes for me, and they are easy to keep on hand.

TRAVEL MIRROR.
Hotel lighting can be a real downer. And even if there happens to be good lighting, it doesn’t always mean there is a good mirror nearby. This slim, lighted, travel mirror has solved the problem for me. The lightweight design slips easily into your bag, and because it is rechargeable, you never have to worry about batteries. I also added this to my graduation gift guide because living in a dorm is a lot like living in a hotel. Bad lighting. Small mirrors. Not a lot of space.

TRAVEL TOILETRY BAGS.
I tried for years to find one giant bag that would house all of my toiletries when I travel, but after years of frustrating experiences, I decided to switch my approach. I am currently using smaller, clear bags and packing each one with a particular category of toiletry based on where I use it. For example, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, face wash, and my razor get packed in one bag because I use all of these items in the shower. All of my makeup goes in one bag. All of my hair styling supplies (heat protectant, styling products, hair spray, bobby pins, scrunchies, etc.) go in one bag. All of my sink-side items like my toothbrush, toothpaste, contact case, contact solution, and skincare products go in on bag. This system is working really well for me, and I have loved using these bags.

PAJAMAS
I love pajama sets, and if you are familiar with the J.Crew cotton pajamas, I have great news. I found this set on Amazon and gave them a try, and they are excellent. I always size up in pajamas because I like them super roomy, and these fit true to size. I have washed them repeatedly, and they have held up and gotten softer. Purchasing a pair and having it monogrammed would be an outstanding gift for anyone on your list.

FAIRY LIGHTS
For my birthday cocktail party in January, I wanted to create a glowy ambiance, and these fairy lights did the trick. Each strand has a battery pack, which makes them easy to use anywhere (no extension cords required!), and they give off a lovely amount of light. They also come with several different light settings (flashing, pulsating, etc.) if that’s your thing.

PACKING CUBES
Packing cubes have transformed my travel game, and I will die on this hill. If you’ve never used packing cubes, join me and never look back. Packing cubes offer you the ability to organize your clothing items according to outfit or category, snugly hold all your clothing in easy to move units, and help you pack more efficiently by squeezing everything together as tightly as possible. I love them so much, and this set offers a variety of sizes. I would suggest ordering at least two sets to make sure you get a good variety of sizes.

DUVET COVER
At the beginning of the school year, I gave Lillian’s bedroom a minor refresh. I wanted to switch her from a comforter to a duvets so that I could wash the duvet cover (comforters do not fit in my washing machine), but I didn’t want to spend a ton of money. I decided to try a duvet cover from Amazon, and I have been so pleased! This duvet comes in over twenty patterns (some are cute, some not so cute), but the tiny flower one I chose looks adorable in her room. The material is a soft jersey, but not in a weird way. It doesn’t feel like a T-shirt, but it isn’t as crisp as a cotton sheet. The print is so fun, and it reminds me of a Liberty pattern (almost). This duvet cover has been a huge win, delivering big bang for the buck.
