Are you a belt person? I haven’t always been, but in the past couple of years, I have come to understand the power of a great belt.
Obviously, belts can serve a function of holding up pants, but rarely is that why or how I wear a belt. Belts are a magic tool in our closet that can instantly define a waist where there is none, trick the eye into creating length, and adding the perfect pop of interest to an outfit.
I do not own many belts. In fact, I own three that I wear regularly. A very wide dark brown leather one. A medium-wide tapestry one. And a skinny calf-skin animal print one. Each of these belts are very distinctive, none of them neutral, and yet I would argue it is exactly because they are distinct that I find I can wear them with just about anything. A truly neutral belt adds nothing of interest and seems to be out of place. But a belt with a pop of color or texture is in truth more flexible and able to go with a variety of different pieces. I know it sounds counter-intuitive, but I have seen it work time after time.
Today I am sharing a round-up of cute belt options, any of which would be a fantastic addition to your closet.
