After a whirlwind season of celebrating Hurley House’s tenth birthday, I am ready for some rest and relaxation. Recovering from big emotional events is part of the planning process for me, and carving out time to just lay fallow allows my body, mind, and heart to inhale and restore itself.
Being in bed is my favorite place to be. It’s cozy, comfortable, and provides a feeling of comfort that goes deeper than the physical. I know that it is “bad sleep hygiene” to use your bed for anything other than sleeping, particularly if you suffer from sleep issues. But as someone who has the gift of sleep, I have never found doing a number of activities from the comfort of my bed to be problematic.
And so, I embrace my bed as my happy, safe place.
The best possible way to start a weekend recovering? A delicious breakfast in bed of course! When I saw this cute wicker bed tray, it reminded me of the trays used in Downton Abbey. Remember how the lady’s maid would wake up Lady Mary every morning and bring her tea and breakfast? I don’t think I could make this routine a daily habit, but I do love the idea of making it part of my weekend rhythm (no lady’s maid required, obviously).
Whatever your chosen method to recover, rest, or retreat, maybe breakfast in bed is a great way to enjoy the process even more.
