Last week our children were out of town at Cousin Camp. Every summer for the past twelve years, Timm’s parents have spent a week with our kids and their cousins. It began when Annie was three and Jake was 18 months old. At first the week was full of playing in the hose and eating popsicles at Grammy and Pop Pop’s house, but as our children have gotten older, it has evolved into something more.

One year they traveled to Boston. Another year they went to San Antonio and New Braunfels, and some years they spend time at the lake where Timm’s older sister and her family live. This year they went to Galveston to stay at the beach, visit the NASA Space Museum, and attend an Astros game. Timm’s younger sister Tina is a huge part of Cousin Camp, and she travels along with everyone and puts her excellent aunt skills to use.

My kids look forward to this trip every year. It’s one of the highlights of their summer, and I love the time they get to spend together having an adventure with their grandparents. I am so grateful for the way Timm’s parents and sisters pour into our children and invest in their lives in meaningful ways.
