Game Day Gear

February 1, 2023 · In: Hospitality, Hosting

With the Super Bowl a little over a week away, I decided to share my favorite game day supplies. Some of these are incredibly practical, and some of them are purely cute, but in my opinion you need both to host a good game day gathering.

One of the things that makes Super Bowl parties (or any other kind of game-watching gathering) a challenge is the combination of hosting a large group while wanting to stay out of the kitchen so you can watch the game (or the commercials). My tip is to use as many disposable items as possible, and to choose a menu that is one hundred percent finished and able to stay warm or at room temperature for the entirely of the game. (If you are looking for recipes and tips for game day food, check out this post.)

Below are some items that make game day more delightful.

CROCK POT.
Whether it is chili, queso, or roast beef sliders, a crock pot is your friend for keeping certain items warm all game long. I love this powdery blue crock pot!

YETI COOLER.
Game Day means lots of beverages, and the gold standard for keeping everything cold is a Yeti.

FOIL PANS.
Not only are foil pans fantastic for holding ribs, burgers, or chicken right off of the grill, they make clean-up a breeze. Add a matching lid, and you can send leftovers home with your guests!

PAPER SERVING BOATS.
For items such as nachos or dips, I prefer these cute craft paper boats for holding chips, melted cheese, and extra jalapenos.

STURDY PAPER PLATES.
There is nothing worse than a soggy plate. These sturdy Chinet plates guarantee to support the heftiest game day food with ease.

FOOTBALL NAPKINS.
Keep it sporty with themed napkins. For Super Bowl, these football napkins are a must.

CUTE FLATWARE.
Plastic is functional, but take it up a notch and find cute bamboo utensils in your team’s colors.

SOLO CUPS.
Not just for drinks, solo cups hold popcorn, chips, even Coke floats (a fun game-day dessert). It’s even better when they color coordinate with the team.

PARTY FANS.
Go all out and choose some festive party fans in your favorite team colors. I love how it only takes a few of these accordion-fold fans to deliver major impact.

PARTY BANNER.
I’ve never met a party that wasn’t elevated with a fun banner. The pennant style of this one lends itself well to sporty gatherings.

PARTY SKEWERS.
I love a pom-pom, and these skewers are ready to add a pop of delight to your food table. They can be functional, holding burgers in place or keeping hoagies from falling apart. But they can also be fun, scattered and speared into anything for a bit of visual interest.

Happy Game Day, and go sports!
