Simple syrup is a liquid sweetener that is used to sweeten beverages such as cocktails, lemonade, or coffee drinks. I made a little video showing you the process of how to make, store, and infuse simple syrup!
A printable recipe can be found at the end of this post. Enjoy!

Simple Syrup
yield: 3 cups
Ingredients
- 2 cups water
- 2 cups sugar
Instructions
- Combine the water and sugar in a saucepan and bring to a simmer, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Once it comes to a boil, remove the mixture from the heat and allow to cool before using.
- Alternatively, you can combine the sugar and water in a container and allow it to sit at room temperature for several hours, stirring the mixture every so often. The sugar will eventually dissolve.
- Simple sugar keeps indefinitely when refrigerated.
Notes
For variations, try steeping aromatics in the syrup such as mint, lemon peel, vanilla beans, cinnamon sticks, orange peel, or anything that sounds delicious!
