In celebration of ten years, today I am sharing a list of Hurley House favorites. Each of these items is a nod to an aspect that makes Hurley House unique and special, and as always, I love when form meets function.
In the bakery, one of our core values is beauty. I believe that even functional items can look beautiful, and I strive to find items that perform well and keep with our clean, elegant aesthetic.
ICED COFFEE.
I don’t want to live in a world without iced coffee, and Chameleon Cold Brew Concentrate is my one. We serve this at Hurley House, and I swear our staff drinks as much as we sell. It is smooth, easy to mix, and hits the spot when you need an afternoon pick-me-up.
LOEFFLER RANDALL HEELS.
While not technically a Hurley House item, this is what I chose to purchase for myself as a Happy Ten Year gift. I have always wanted to own a pair of Loeffler Randall bow heels, and when I saw the clover green color, I took it as a sign to pull the trigger. Happy Hurley House to me!
HURLEY HOUSE APRON.
Not only does our kitchen staff wear this apron, but we now sell it in-store as well! It is made from durable canvas, has a comfortable cross-back design with ties long enough to encircle your waist (I like to tie mine in the front), features a number of handy pockets, and is super cute to boot! I wish I had a link for you, but if you don’t live in Fort Worth, and you’d like to purchase one, send an email my way!
WHITE CAKE STAND.
This cake stand is the gold standard. It is heavy, which keeps it steady when slicing cake, tall, flat, beautiful, and draws attention to whatever cake or dessert it houses. As an added convenience, the diameter is 12-inches which easily accommodates most cake domes. This cake stand is a worthy investment.
BONNE MAMAN JAM.
We love Bonne Maman jam at Hurley House. I have made homemade jam before, and this brand tastes exactly like homemade. We keep the empty jars and use them to house everything from pens and pencils to forks and knives and even flower arrangements or votive candles.
SPRINKLES.
At Hurley House we call these hole-punch sprinkles because they look like tiny colorful punches of paper left after you punch holes. They are so happy and cute, and instantly brighten any baked good.
HELL’S HANDLE.
If you don’t own a Hell’s Handle metal spatula, you are really missing out. We use this tool to cut bars with clean, even lines. We also use it scrape stuck-on gunk from sheet trays, and at home I use it endlessly for sauteeing or turning food.
METRO CART.
If Hurley House had a sponser, I think it could be Metro shelving. We literally have it everywhere, and our kitchen, retail, storage, and packaging areas would not function near as well without it.
BLACK AND WHITE TWINE.
This is our go-to for tying up bags of Everything Bagel Chips, individually packaging sweet treats, and putting a cute finishing touch on our bakery boxes.
BLACK AND WHITE RIBBON.
When you want to take the presentation up a notch, there’s nothing cuter than a classic black and white striped ribbon. We use this to tie up boxes of goodies, but it also makes cute bows for hanging wreaths. I love having a spool of this ribbon on hand at home for a number of different situation. It also comes in red and white which is especially adorable at the holidays.
WHITE IKEA TRAY.
Where would we be without our beloved Ikea trays??? We stack cookies and bars on these trays, use them to hold our ice tea pitchers, collect items on them when we host events, and I have yet to find a party situation that is not improved by gathering items onto an Ikea tray. I have owned and used these in my house for years, and the metal construction makes them sturdy and easy to clean.
