Did you have a busy May? Me too. My May was full of the usual end-of-school-year events, plus we celebrated Timm’s grandfather’s 100th birthday, worked on getting Hurley House ready for summer, and launched the blog!
Along the way, I found a few favorite things that caught my eye, and I am sharing them with you in the video at the end of this post.
Speaking of video, I am trying my hand at a lot of video these days, and let’s just say the learning curve is steep. I am laughing for a lot of reasons as I watch this particular video (which I recorded with my phone).
First, I still haven’t figured out if I’m supposed to look at the screen or try and find the tiny black lens…but clearly I need to figure that out. Forgive my wandering gaze.
Second, don’t let my smile fool you, I was ner-VOUS when I shot this. So nervous that my hands are visibly shaking SO MUCH. It’s kind of shocking how shaky they are. Plus I kept saying “cold brew” instead of “cold foam” in the first segment. Sorry, Starbucks.
Last, I got distracted when a friend stopped into the store, and I forgot to record an ending, so the video just ends abruptly. Almost mid-sentence. Gonna make a note to work on that next month.
I am committed to pressing into the uncomfortable territory of vulnerability and authenticity, so instead of reshooting to try and hide the errors, I’m owning them. No idea where to look. Shaky hands. No ending. And you know what? We are all going to be ok.
Enjoy these May favorites!
