Gifts are my primary love language, and when I give or receive a personalized gift, my heart swells. It takes a certain amount of effort and forethought to pick a gift at all, but to add a monogram or an initial to an item takes the thoughtfulness to the next level.
In today’s post, I have rounded up some of my favorite items that make wonderful personalized gifts. Tuck these away for birthdays, graduations, or other special moments.
MADEWELL ZIP POUCH.
This leather pouch is part wallet, part sleek carry-all. It is the perfect size and is well appointed with slots for credit cards, a snap pocket for coins, and plenty of room for bills, receipts, or even a phone and lipstick. This is the pouch that I use to hold all of my essentials. When I change handbags, I toss this into the new bag. Or, sometimes I carry it on its own.
The Madewell Leather Pouch Clutch comes in three colors (shown above in Cognac). Personalization is available in 11 colors and can accommodate up to 8 characters. Pro tip: If you are part of the Madewell Customer Care Program, they will personalize your items for free!
KATIE KIME SHIRT.
A personalized Katie Kime button-down is embodies casual elegance. I have had my eyes on these for years, and I want them in every color! The monogramming options are punchy and fun, and this shirt makes a statement, effortlessly elevating jeans. With two children at the University of Arkansas, I am planning to order one in white for game days, monogrammed with WPS in red (Woo Pig Sooie!).
Notes on sizing. These are designed to be oversized without having to size up. So, for example, I normally wear a large in button-down shirts. When I order a Katie Kime large, it will fit in a perfectly-oversized way. No need to size up to get the oversized look!
PERSONALIZED STATIONARY.
With hundreds of cute stationary options in the world, this Rifle Paper selection takes personalization to the next level. Not only can you add a name, but you get to choose features like skin color, hair style, hair color, shirts, and accessories to create a cute character that matches the name!
MARK AND GRAHAM JEWELRY CASE.
I love giving gifts that are functional but feel special. A tiny jewelry travel case is the kind of item everyone needs, but we rarely buy for ourself. With room for rings, earrings, bracelets, and necklaces, this little case does it all! I particularly like the tonal shadowed effect of the monograms.
PENCILS.
If you have never ordered personalized pencils, I want to convince you to give it a try. I used to order these for my children for the first day of school. We keep these on hand at Hurley House. I think it would make a cute family gift. Plus, you can get very creative with what goes on them.
PENNANT.
Wondering what to get the dad, brother, uncle, father-in-law that has it all? Try a personalized pennant. I discovered these creations while searching for graduation decor for Jake’s party, and I instantly ordered one for my husband for Father’s Day. This would be cute in a nursery, for a grandfather, for a new home, and a great way to add a very personalized touch to any space.
HAIR TOWEL.
In the vein of practical but not something we purchase for ourself, a personalized hair turban towel sounds like the ideal gift. Tuck this idea away for future Easter baskets, graduation gifts, or Christmas gifts for all the girls in your life.
HANKIE.
A beautiful hankie is a timeless treasure that can be passed down. I want to be the kind of person who always has a hankie in her purse, ready to dab away a tear or wipe a sniffle. Add a gorgeous vintage-inspired embroidered initial for a timeless charm.
PAJAMAS.
Luxurious pajamas are a treat on their own, but when personalized with a monogram, they really become special. I love these JCrew pajamas. They are incredibly soft and hold up well over time. If you watch carefully, these will go on sale periodically!
TOTE BAG.
I have posted a lot on Instagram about how much I love the LLBean tonal ivory on ivory tote with an ivory monogram, which was a thoughtful gift from someone who I love very much. My favorite part is the departure from the standard name or monogram. Instead of my name, she had the word “chic” embroidered, and I could not love it more.
NOTEBOOK.
Everyone loves to see their name on a notebook! One of my favorite gifts to give teens or tweens are personalized journals and sketchbooks. I usually pick three fun patterns and add their name. For younger kids, I add a package of cute crayons or colored pencils, for older kids, a pack of mechanical pencils or neon gel pens. It’s a really fun gift.
I hope these gifts get you thinking of how to incorporate personalization into your gift-giving! Let me know your favorite in the comments below!
