We’ve all been there. You’re out somewhere. Maybe it’s a friend’s house. Maybe it’s at a restaurant. Maybe it’s Hurley House. And there is something you don’t want to forget when you leave.
Maybe you stopped by the grocery store on your way to your friend’s house, and you stashed the milk you purchased in her fridge.
“Don’t let me forget the milk when I leave.”
Maybe your friend brought a birthday gift for you your daughter, and she left it in her car while you eat lunch together.
“Don’t let me forget to give you the gift.”
Maybe you’re at Hurley House, enjoying coffee with a friend, and the kind employee behind the counter offers to keep your take-away dinner in the walk-in cooler until you’re ready to go.
“Don’t let me forget to grab my dinner.”
I’m not sure about you, but every time I need to “not forget” something, I forget it. I get home and SHOOT! I forget the milk, or the gift, or my dinner. That is, until I learned The Key Trick.
What is The Key Trick?
Find a way to attach your keys to whatever it is that you need to remember to take with you when you leave.
So, for example, you stash your milk in your friend’s fridge while you hang out and let your kids play together. Put your keys in the fridge too.
You’re at lunch and your friend has something to give you in her car. Hand her your keys.
You’re at Hurley House enjoying a conversation with a friend, put your keys in the walk-in cooler with your dinner.
When it’s time to go, and you’re looking for your keys, you will wonder where they are, and then eventually remember that you put them in the fridge (or wherever you stashed them), which will force you to remember the thing you didn’t want to forget!
It works every single time.
I have put my keys in a freezer, a fridge, someone else’s purse, or even on top of a stack of books that need to be returned to the library. You can’t leave without your keys. Which means you won’t leave without remembering the very thing you set out to not forget.
I can’t wait to hear how The Key Trick works for you!!
